The Challenge - It's Simple

We are not going to lie to you, we think MEGAHIKE is one of the toughest team challenges in the UK. This monster hike is set in the heart of the Pennines and will begin at day break on the 23rd June 2012 from Hollingworth Lake in Littleborough. The route will allow you to witness some of the most stunning scenery the north west has to offer, but please be warned it will test you and your team both physically and mentally as you trek along sections of the ‘backbone of England’ – the Pennine Way. It doesn’t matter whether you choose the 50 mile or 25 mile route, with the correct training and with the support of your team mates it IS achievable. The emotions and feelings of elation on crossing the finish line will be hard to match, or to describe…

It’s all about Teamwork…
In 2010 and 2011 over 80% of teams completed MEGAHIKE. Success is all about teamwork and will depend on four key factors; preparation, training, mental strength and a ‘never say die’ team spirit that you need to create within your team from the minute you register. It is this bond, developed in the lead up to MEGAHIKE that will enable you to become 2012 champions!

Your team needs to be prepared to push the boundaries, to encourage and motivate each other and by working together you will realise that anything is possible. It’s this bond that will drive you on to succeed on MEGAHIKE.

Who can take part...
MEGAHIKE is open to all people from 17 years of age and over (16 years of age if accompanied by an adult). This challenging endurance team event is open to friends, clubs and social groups. It is an ideal opportunity for corporate organisations looking to create team bonding or just some light hearted internal rivalry between departments, offices or stores!

Rules of MEGAHIKE…

Please read the rules and conditions of entry on the reverse of the registration form – it is very important that you understand and accept the rules of the event. The rules have been created for your team’s safety and to maximise your chance of success.

Each team must have four walkers and two support crew members with a vehicle. The support crew members you bring along are a vital component to your success – they will be the ones to meet you at the designated points along the route to provide you with boosts of encouragement, some of your favourite snacks, a change of clothes and lots of fresh pairs of socks!

Team members taking part in MEGAHIKE can be substituted before the event takes place. The deadline date for changes to your team is Friday 8th June 2012.

The Team Captain or Vice Captain must attend the information day that will take place before the challenge. It is strongly recommended that as many of the team attend as possible. Once your team has secured its place we will send further information.
